Apple has met with their top podcasters for their iTunes service in order to tackle issues about how the company supports the podcasting community.
The Cupertino-based tech giant held the private meeting last month in their campus in California. Besides the podcasters, there were also a number of Apple employees that took part in the discussion.
Podcasters were given the right to express themselves and to raise issues regarding the iTunes service. There were a lot of complaints from the community but Apple did not promise anything to the podcasters.
More than two dozen podcasters were involved in the closed-door meeting, New York Times reported. One of the complaints was that most of them are unable to earn any revenue because they cannot access the iTunes listeners' data despite the company having access.
Another issue raised was that sharing their podcasts through the various social media networks took to many steps. Followers from the said networks play a huge part in their listenership as they would be able to post updates on their accounts.
Most of the details regarding the said meeting were vague partly because all of the people involved had signed a non-disclosure agreement. Apple executive Eddy Cue, who handles software and services, was not there but he met the employees for another closed session.
The iTunes service from Apple provides more than just music downloads. Podcasters can also share their thoughts and views about certain issues through the digital platform.
Eddy Cue had also promised the much awaited iTunes 12.4 update. The new version will reportedly sport a simple user interface compared to the past ones.
Unfortunately, the version did not come with the OS X 10.11.4 update. Screenshots of the new iTunes update had surfaced which shows the several redesigned features, Mac Rumors has learned.
The overall UI does look cleaner and less cluttered compared to the previous versions. Menus n the iTunes 12.4 update are also simplified for easier navigation.
In addition, the mini player will also have changes in its design. The podcasting feature and playback has not been shown in the screenshots though.
Apple could make some changes for the podcasters too besides the iTunes 12.4 update. The company stands to make additional revenue if they could help fix some of the issues raised by the community.
