The search for Joo Won's female lead in the forthcoming historical drama series, "My Sassy Girl," begins and netizens are set to play a big part.

Most recent news noted that the drama just announced a casting call for all females, ages 20-30, to audition as a new female lead in the upcoming sageuk remake. The successful applicants for the document screening are expected to be announced on May 24 and will be given a chance to take the second audition screening that will last for two days. Netizens can choose from the top 10 candidates and cast their vote in Naver TV's website.

The casting call is remarkable for its crisp attempt at selecting a female lead through open auditions in view of the assessment criteria - 45 percent of the points from the evaluation committee; 10 percent of the points from actors; and 45 percent of the points from netizens. The votes from the netizens are divided into three parts; 30 percent from Naver TV in Korea, 10 percent from V Live for the global votes and five percent from Le.com in China.

"The female protagonist of 'My Sassy Girl' is an important individual who must express the uniqueness and personality specific to the drama. That's why we expect to search for the 'girl,' with the participation of individuals in Korea, China, and Japan," An affiliate from the drama said, according to Naver, as cited by Soompi. "We ask for your interest and participation."

Nonetheless, the drama's story is still a romance driven by two inverse identities - the beautiful but boss alpha girl and the classic beta male.

"Bridal Mask" star has been cast to play the male lead character named Gyun Woo. The upcoming drama will be the actor's first sageuk (period) venture and marks as his final acting prior to enlisting in the South Korean military, Drama Beans has learned.

It will be co-produced by Raemong Raein and Sim Entertainment. To date, the show's precise airing date and the network on which it will be broadcast remains under wraps.

Nonetheless, it has been learned that the drama will be completely pre-produced for a simultaneous broadcast in Korea, mainland China, and Japan. Check out the video below:
