Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Beta released for Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 series; Enhanced Stamina mode is back

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow beta update is releasing for the Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 series. With this update, the Stamina mode is now back in the Xperia Z series.

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Beta update is rolling out to Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 with the model numbers D6503, D5803 and D6603 respectively, according to Xperia Blog. It is only available for those users who signed up for the Xperia Beta Program.

The latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update comes with the Sony's proprietary Stamina-mode option, which enhances the battery life of the device. In comparison, Google has their own Doze option, which also optimizes the usage of battery.

With the Android Lollipop operating system, the Stamina mode was plagued with numerous issues. Hence, the company incorporated numerous changes pertaining to stability, functionality and usability in the latest version.

The latest Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 beta update also contains numerous patches for the Bluetooth audio glitch, Wi-Fi connection bug, amongst other issues. It also has enhanced security features, which ensure a seamless user experience.

People who want to download the latest update can also sign up for the Xperia Beta Program on Google Play Store. After that, they can download the latest update and then give their feedback to the developers. Based on the feedback, Sony will then release the final build to the public by early June.

The Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 beta update is rolling out in a phased manner for all the users of the Android Marshmallow Beta program. Users can manually check their devices to see if they are eligible for an update or not. To do so, they need to go to Settings> About Phone> Check for System Update.

In case the users are prompted to update their device then, they need to make sure that it is connected to a reliable Wi-Fi connection for an uninterrupted download. They also need to connect the device to a power source if the battery levels are drastically low.

The Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 Beta comes with numerous memory improvements, security updates along with support for multi-tasking. It also fixes the issue of the missing expansion arrow in the sound menu and other translation bugs.
