Verizon bumps up consumable data for prepaid plans in exchange for auto pay feature

Verizon will be adding more consumable data for their prepaid plans starting on May 15 as an effort to grow the number of their customers amid the slowing smartphone market.

The $45 a month plan will have its 1 GB data bumped up to 3GB and the $60 subscription plan now has  6 GB worth of data included. Of course, every plan will still have the unlimited SMS and minutes in phone calls.

In addition, the $45 plan comes with free texting to Canada and Mexico. The $60 plan allows for texting and calling for both countries.

Those who want to avail of the new bonuses will have to set up their Auto Pay feature, Hot Hardware has learned. Customers should not worry too much as these are prepaid plans which means there will be no credit checks or any activation fees.

The best part is that prepaid plans also have no annual contracts. If a customer wants to drop out of their current plan, they can freely do so without having to incur any penalty charges.

If the customer does not want to use the Auto Pay feature, the plans will still have an increase in data but by small amount. The $45 plan will only give 2 GB of data instead of 3 GB and the $60 plan will have 5 GB instead of 6 GB, Phone Arena reported.

Customers who just want to be connected to the Internet but do not need texts and calls can avail of Verizon's $30 a month Wi-Fi only plan. They also have $30 a month plans for unlimited call and texts plus mobile web connections.

Verizon also has a $15 a month budget plan for those who want unlimited mobile web plus calls and texts that equals 300 minutes. Users who are not big into browsing the net could avail of the plan.
