Google Nexus 2016 vs OnePlus 3: Leaked ‘Flagship Killer’ Details Confirm Near-Pure Android Specs & Feature Upgrades

Leaked OnePlus 3 ‘flagship killer’ details confirm near-pure android specs and feature upgrades.

The latest leaked details on the rumored OnePlus 3 unsurprisingly indicate of flagship-level specs and feature upgrades, and on release date the handset promises capabilities to match or even exceed rivals such as the Google Nexus 2016 and Apple's iPhone 7. A new pic, in fact, of the OnePlus 3 looks like a cross between the two devices.

As freshly provided by noted gadget news leaker Evan Blass, the upcoming OnePlus 3 seems directly inspired by the recently unpacked HTC 10 and soon-to-come iPhone 7. The latter, if rumors are to be believed, is nearly identical with that of the iPhone 6S, at least on the externals. On the other hand, the HTC 10 is thought to be the base-model that Google will use for its next Nexus as speculations suggest that HTC will soon issue two smartphones bearing the Nexus brand.

But as Blass, also known as @evleaks, has revealed, the OnePlus 3 is touted as a flagship killer for both its outer and inside specs:

As indicated, the AMOLED display matches that of the Samsung Galaxy S7 while the 3000mAh battery will overwhelm the iPhone 6S.

However, Engadget said in a report that the latest OnePlus 3 image is not exactly new as the maker of the device "has clearly been seeding the same image to other Chinese media outlets as well." At best, the latest functions as a decoy or "to stir up hype before a product launch," the report added.

That's like saying nothing is written in stone for the OnePlus 3 build, design and specifications. It could be that the device is metallic and slim but not necessarily a close copy of the rumored Nexus 2016 model or the next iPhone. Engadget is convinced too the that device will keep its banner camera features - laser autofocus and dual-tone flash.

Yet at the same time, it is believable that the OnePlus 3 will mighty up courtesy of Qualcomm's latest and greatest - the Snapdragon 820. And the chip is likely paired with up to 6GB of RAM as suggested by numerous benchmark leaks.

As for the device release date, the OnePlus 3 has been scheduled for public unveiling in June so the rollout moment should follow shortly, meaning way ahead of the Nexus 2016 and iPhone 7 unboxings. Rumors also say that the handset availability is no longer by invitation only and sticker price of the top-tier model is no more than $400 in keeping with its flagship killer status.
