Amid the controversy about his transitioning to a woman, Bruce Jenner, 65, was involved in a four-car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, Los Angeles, which killed one woman and injured several others, including two adults and five children.

The woman who died in the accident was identified as Kim Howe, 69, a widow, and was said to be a neighbour of the Kardashian family, Daily Mail has learned.

Howe reportedly lives in the same area in Calabasas where the Kardashian siblings Kourtney, Khloe and Rob live. The area is said to be guarded by security at the road entrance.

Jenner was driving his Cadillac Escalade when he crashed into the back of another vehicle, a white Lexus, which was pushed into the way of a Hummer. It was considered miraculous for the Kardashian-Jenner patriarch to have survived the vehicular accident without any injuries.

According to Sheriff Commander Michael Parker, investigators are currently trying to verify the cause and circumstances surrounding the car crash.  They plan to obtain any video evidence by looking at the mobile phone records of all four drivers involved in the collision.

Through this, the investigators will determine if any of the drivers were on their mobile phones at the time of the car crash as it is illegal to text while driving in California.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will get a search warrant for both Jenner's cellphone and its phone records, TMZ reported.

Wearing dark sunglasses and a blue jumper, the Olympic gold medalist passed a roadside sobriety test in front of police right after the fatal car crash. His son Brody also rushed at the scene.
