The second half of "Vikings" Season 4 will focus on the power struggle within the Lodbrok household.

The mid-season finale of "Vikings" Season 4 was a cliffhanger of sorts, with a time jump that intensified the internal struggle in the Lodbrok household in Kattegat. Ragnar's sons are all grown up and hell-bent on assuming daddy's throne as king.

Although "Vikings" bosses are tight-lipped about the upcoming midseason premiere, there are speculations that the show would return on air starting June or July. According to Den of Geek, it is likely that episode 11 of "Vikings" Season 4 will premiere on the first Thursday after "Game of Thrones" Season 6 wraps up.

The second half of Season 4 will focus on Ragnar's progeny and life in Kattegat. Ragnar's children are now skilled warriors in their own right. They are all ready to rule and Ragnar has challenged them to prove they are worthy of the throne. While the easiest pick to succeed Ragnar would be Bjorn, his eldest son with Lagertha, speculations now lead to Ragnar's youngest son with Aslaug, Ivar the Boneless.

Ivar the Boneless will become Ragnar's favorite, and it is expected that viewers will be rooting for him as well. The character is described as someone who sees his father Ragnar as an equal whom he can safely confide with.

"If you knew what I know about what happens to Ragnar in the second half of the season, you, too, would be very happy that he didn't die [during the fight with Rollo]," "Vikings" executive producer Michael Hirst shared with TV Guide. "I think Travis [Fimmel] is absolutely amazing on this journey and more powerful than ever. What happens to him is unbelievable. Prepare to shed a lot of tears, I think."

Lagertha will also play a central role in the upcoming "Vikings" episodes. Hirst said that the Shieldmaiden is "is the soul of the show and I need her." However, it is said that the physical changes she has undergone after nearly getting killed by Aslaug in the siege in Paris would make her almost unrecognizable in "Vikings" Season 4. Aslaug will not be happy to learn that Lagertha survived the attack, but Lagertha's actions following that event will be essential to the Season 4 arc.
