Fans of “Descendants of the Sun” actor would have a Song Joong-ki overload once they read the interview and see photos of the actor on Marie Claire June 2016 issue. On May 16, the fashion magazine released a teaser with four photos of the 30-year-old actor.
On Monday, May 23, the magazine finally released on its website the interview and more photos. Unfortunately for English readers, the interview is in Korean characters, so they have to rely on a translation service to get a gist of what Song Joong-ki said.
The star of “Descendants of the Sun” said he did not expect that hot reception that he is getting from fans after portraying the role of Army Captain Yoo Si-jin. Since the drama ran only for eight weeks with 16 episodes, Song Joong-ki shared that after watching the last episode, aired on April 14, he cried a lot.
He said that getting a lot of recognition now for his work makes him feel good. However, he also feels a little but bad that his family lost their privacy because of the fame that came with his work which made him the most popular actor in China and South Korea.
Song Joong-ki recalled that his older brother, who also fulfilled his two-year compulsory military service for all males, gave him encouraging words when he enlisted. The older brother told him he would acquire new skills that would force his body to become stronger.
He said that doing commercials for clothing brands is fun because it gives him the opportunity to walk around. Besides during photo shoots, Song Joong-ki shared that he once walked a few hours from Shibuya to Roppongi in Japan. He added that there are good walking trails in Seoul. The actor said that he appreciated the quiet neighborhood of Hyehwa-dong where he went to university and walked a lot.
