Cheese in the Trap is a South Korean television series based on the webtoon of the same name serialized on Naver from 2010 to present, and stars Park Hae-jin, Kim Go-eun and Seo Kang-joon.

Actor Park Hae Jin is set to return as Yoo Jung in the big screen adaptation of Soon Ggi's widely praised webcomic series called "Cheese in the Trap."

On May 24, Tuesday, the film's publicity company, HNS HQ, confirmed the good news through a press statement released to different local media groups. After profound contemplation, the 33-year-old actor finally decided to take on the inscrutable lead male role of Yoo Jung in the forthcoming film adaptation.

"After numerous debates regarding the creation of webtoon 'Cheese in the Trap' as a movie, we've come to a decision to produce 'Cheese in the Trap' as a Korean-Chinese' film," HNS HQ said in a press release statement ibtained by All K-pop. The statement also revealed that the production company of the forthcoming film adaptation, Mountain Movement Story, officially signed a contract with the original creator, Soon Ggi. The film adaptation aims to stay faithful to the original story.

As recalled, the TV series' version of the said webtoon has sparked controversy after the story began veering away from the original storyline. It was learned that the ending of the TV drama series, aired on tvN cable network from Jan. 4 to March 1 for 16-episode, is an original work since the webtoon had not been completed at the time of filming.

The forthcoming "Cheese in the Trap" movie depicts the fragile relationship between a female college student, Hong Seol, and her senior named Yoo Jung. The production team is poised to begin filming in early next year, along with "Architecture 101's" filmmaker Lee Dong Ho at the helm.

It will be distributed by China Film Group Corp. and Xingmei in theaters across mainland China and South Korea at some point in summer 2017, Yonhap News Agency reported. As of this writing, there is still no word on who will play the female protagonist in the film adaptation. However, speculations are rife that there is a high probability that a Chinese actress may be cast to play the shrewd college student, Hong Seol.
