SHINee's Onew takes over Kangin as a special DJ on 'Super Junior's Kiss the Radio'

South Korean singer-actor Lee Jin-ki aka Onew as Dr. Lee Chi Hoon in KBS 2TV's "Descendants of the Sun."

SHINee's leader Onew, whose real name is Lee Jin Ki, will take over Kangin's appearances' on KBS's "Super Junior's Kiss the Radio" program as a special DJ. Earlier today, May 25, the staff of "Super Junior's Kiss the Radio" announced that Onew will host the show from May 25 until May 26.

The 26-year-old singer-actor will be hosting the popular radio program, as a special DJ in place of Super Junior's Leeteuk, who has an overseas business trip from May 24-26. Originally, Super Junior member Kangin was tapped as a temporary replacement for Leeteuk until SM Entertainment announced the former's official hiatus, following the DUI hit-and-run incident.

"To substitute DJ Leeteuk, who is currently on a business trip, SHINee's Onew will be with us on the 25th as a special MC. Please, give great support for 'Super Junior's Kiss the Radio' with Onew," the staff of the show said in a press release statement obtained by All K-pop.

Onew was discovered at the S.M. Academy Casting in early 2006 and debuted as the leader of the 5-member boy group, SHINee, on May 25, 2008. Aside from singing and dancing, he also embarked on his acting career in 2010 and starred in the musical drama called Hyeongjeneun Yonggamhaetda" or "Brothers were Brave" in English.

Onew gained immense prominence both inside and outside South Korea with "Descendants of the Sun" as Dr. Lee Chi Hoon, a first year resident of Thoracic Surgery. It aired on KBS network from Feb. 24 to April 22 on Wednesdays-Thursdays at 10:05 to 11:00 (KST) timeslot for 19 episodes.

SHINee's Onew will be joined by BTOB's (Born to Beat) leader, main vocalist Seo Eunkwang and lead vocals' Lee Changsub, Soompi reported. Much to the delight of fans worldwide, the radio show's official Twitter account posted a selca of Changsub and Eunkwang at the station on May 24, Tuesday.
