Darren Wang reveals that his first love is actually the South Korean actress Park Shin Hye. The 24-year-old Taiwanese actor spilled in this information by posting the actress' photograph on Instagram on May 24, Tuesday.
Wang tagged the Korean actress in the photograph, which comes with a Hangul caption that reads, "She is my first love." Not long after the news made the round on the web, Wang's avid girl fans lamented the star's explicit display of interest to Park.
Wang, better known by his Chinese name Ta Lu or Dae Ryook as pronounced in Korean, received a lot of love from Korean women after he starred in the 2015 Taiwanese romance film, "Our Times," directed by Yu Shan Chen aka Frankie Chen. In the film, Wang plays the school's famous mob leader, Xu Tai Yu, who later fall in love to a warm-hearted schoolgirl named Lin Zhen Xin (Vivian Sung).
"Our Time" was produced by Yeh Ju Fen and distributed by Hualien Media International and 20th Century Fox in theaters across Singapore and Malaysia on Aug. 14, 2015. The film has earned around $81.5million worldwide, with its biggest territory being in mainland China with $54.8 million.
The romantic-comedy film also recorded a total of 181,148 viewers at the Korean Box Office. Singapore's The New Paper gave the film a 5 out of 5 rating, describing it as "an irresistible combination of nostalgia, humor, and heartfelt emotions." The publication further praised it for pressing a punch for catching the ambivalent sentiments of youthful love.
Apart from actress Sung and actor Wang, the film also features a star-studded cast that includes Joe Chen as adult Lin Zhen Xin, Jerry Yan as adult Xu Tai Yu, Dino Lee as Ou Yang Fei-Fan, and Dewi Chien as Tao Min Min. One of Tai Yu's gang buddies include Ying Mu (Ian Chen), while actress Tsai Yi Chen plays Zhen Xin's best friend named He Mei.
It also stars actress Chung Hsin-Ling as Lin's mother and veteran actor, Cantopop singer Andy Lau as himself. The film marks the directorial debut of Chen, who already produced numerous Taiwanese TV shows.
