Capcom might be a announcing "Resident Evil 7" at the E3 2016 event on June for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles

Capcom's upcoming installment, "Resident Evil 7," will reportedly be unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016. Katan Games CEO Dr. Serkan Toto, an industry insider revealed that a new "Resident Evil" is now in development. The untitled sequel will reportedly return to its horror roots, in addition to being a "clean slate."

Toto unveiled this information via twitter, adding that the game will be presented at E3 2016, according to Only Single Player. According to the CEO, the project has picked up a new game designer, Jordan Amaro, who initially worked with Kojima Productions on "Metal Gear Solid 4" and "PT."

The survival horror franchise will allegedly return to its horror root, which made the famous game successful. The game shifted from its original taste in 2012 with its sixth installment.

"Resident Evil" is possibly the most iconic series ever made particularly in this era when zombies have become a staple in the popular culture.

The game's popularity lies in the highly exhilarating survival horror theme, something that Capcom has considered to retrace. In fact, the franchise had several movies in its name with great box office records amid being slightly off the original source.

The most recent titles in the "Resident Evil" franchise have focused more on action as opposed to the horror roots. The shift resulted into a general displeasure as evidenced in the decreased sales reports. "Resident Evil 7" requires a total makeover, especially with the latest highly digitalized era with complex remastering technology.

In an interview with VG247, the game producer Masachika Kawata said that the game developer would consider input from fans and the media to create the upcoming installment. Since avid fans have been wishing to see the game return to its original roots, it is rational for Capcom to return the horror aspects.

Kawata said, "I think we'll get a lot of input from the fanbase and the media on what it means for Resident Evil, and what it could mean for the future of the series, once Revelations was released. Moving forward I can see us focusing even more on the horror aspect and fear in the series, and see us making something scarier than we have already."

Stay tuned for more news as soon as they trickle in. Here is footage for more details.
