The next NXT live event special will be on June 8 and it's titled "NXT TakeOver: The End." According to the latest rumors, many wrestling fans are speculating that the WWE will be ending NXT live event specials due to the impending brand extension.
"NXT TakeOver: The End" will feature a Steel Cage Match between Samoa Joe and Finn Balor for the NXT championship while the co-main event is Asuka vs. Nia Jax showdown for the NXT women's title. The event's title was supposed to be called "NXT TakeOver: Revenge."
The change in the event title has caused some speculations about the future of WWE's developmental system. More rumors of WWE planning to end NXT or the NXT live specials surfaced when TickeMaster and WWE.com removed "NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 2016" from their schedule.
According to Cageside Seats, the Barclays Center, where the event would have taken place, still lists the WWE live special on their website. Nonetheless, there are no concrete reports about the future of NXT until the planned brand extension.
The WWE will be holding their superstar draft on July 11 while SmackDown will start airing live on the USA Network on July 19. It was a move made by the WWE to boost the ratings of SmackDown with both brands having their own featured superstars.
There is a list going around online showing the rumored superstars going to Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, Wrestling Inc. reports.It is interesting to note that most on-screen NXT stars are included in the list which means the developmental system may really be ending.
Nonetheless, Triple H took to Twitter the upcoming schedule of house shows for NXT this July.NXT will be visiting Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Louisville starting from July 14 and ending on July 16. There are no more scheduled NXT house shows and live events after the dates above.
