Sacramento Kings starting guard Darren Collison was recently detained on accusations of "felony domestic violence", according to recent reports.

CBS Sacramento reported that the 28-year-old 2010 NBA All-Rookie First Teamer "was arrested on early Monday morning after deputies responded to a report from a woman who said she was being assaulted inside a Granite Bay home".

Little did the respondents from the Placer County (California) Sheriff's Office know that the offending party is an NBA player and a familiar face in the said community.

The seven-year pro was said to have been booked at the Placer County jail after being charged "with one count of corporal injury on a spouse and two misdemeanor bench warrants for driving on a suspended license", as per ESPN.

Collison was then released on a bail of $55,000 hours after his arrest and is scheduled to face the court on July 11.

The Kings released an official statement regarding the issue saying that they are aware of the said occurrence.

"We've been made aware of the situation. The Sacramento Kings condemn violence of any kind. We are gathering additional information and once all facts are known we will take appropriate steps," the club released on Tuesday.

Collison is about to enter the final season of his three-year, $15 million deal with Sacramento this October, which would make him an unrestricted free agent next summer. There are no indications that the Kings will waive him after the news broke out, though.

He played 74 games and started 16 of those for former head coach George Karl last season, averaging 14.0 points, 2.3 boards, and 4.3 assists in 30.0 minutes per game. He also posted career highs in both field goal and three-point shooting, at 48.6 percent and 40.1 percent respectively, while also shooting 85.8 percent from the charity stripe.

Karl slid him to shooting guard and utilized him alongside Rajon Rondo, who played the point, allowing him more opportunities to play off the ball and more chances to shoot from the outside.

Former Memphis Grizzlies boss Dave Joerger was recently named as the Kings' new head coach following the sacking of Karl in April of this year.
