Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) arrives at Winterfell in the HBO series "Game of Thrones" Season 4.

"Game of Thrones" fame Ramsay Bolton has done a number of horrible things in the series. However, Sansa Stark's rape scene is by far, one of the most controversial things that the fans have seen.

Iwan Rheon, the Ramsay Bolton actor later confessed in an interview with The Independent that the scene was indeed "horrible" to perform as an actor. Rheon further said that he did not sleep even for a moment at night before the scene was supposed to be shot, despite the fact that it is easy for him to detach from his character at that time of the day.

According to the actors, Sophie Turner, who plays that character of Sansa Stark in the "Game of Thrones," tackled the rape scene very well. He also described Turner as a "lovely girl."

"It just felt like nobody wanted to be there and nobody wanted to be doing it," he said. "It just filtered all the way through the crew. But you've just got to get on with it."

Apart from his discomfort in getting the horrible rape scene shot as an actor with Turner, Rheon said that he is surprised by the way how people have been reacting to the scene. However, claims to understand the reason behind the "intense backash."

"I understand why the reaction's there, because people have watched this girl grow up and they love her," Rheon said. "But you know, burning a child.. nobody seems to go mad about that."

Rheon further described the backlash as the worst one so far in the history of "Game of Thrones." The actor said that shooting the rape scene was like nobody wanted to be there and do it, however, it just filtered through the crew members.

On the other hand, "Game of Thrones" writer Bryan Cogman also opened up about Sansa Stark's rape scene recently, according to Digital Spy. The scene saw Stark being raped by Bolton on her wedding night and Theon Greyjoy is forced to watch. While the scene did not appear in the original version of the George RR Martin's novels, the fans revolted that whatever new has been portrayed in the television series goes against Stark's character.

However, Cogman said that the writers decided to do what would have happened realistically on the wedding night with the two characters. He further described his experience writing the scene as difficult, as he has known Turner since she was a child.
