Konami is turning "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" into a pachinko game. The company is reinventing the famous PlayStation 2 title into a new version that resembles a slot or pinball machine.

"Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" was initially released in 2004 by Konami as an action-adventure game for Sony's Play Station 2 and 3, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita and Xbox 360. According to Polygon, the company has recently announced that "Snake Eater" is being turned into pachinko game, a type of game very popular among the Japanese. The new version will feature a 32-inch high-definition screen with fully enhanced graphics.

Moreover, the new version of "Snake Eater" will make use of the Fox Engine. Fox engine is the proprietary cross-platform, cross-generational game engine developed by Kojima Productions for many Konami games such as "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain."

The company has yet to explain how the 2004 action-adventure game will adapt the mechanics of a pachinko game, or vice versa. With Hideo Kojima no longer connected the company and Konami no longer focusing on AAA game projects, this is the only time that an early "Metal Gear" title is being adapted into the new game engine platform.

The newly released teaser video for the new "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" version first shows a familiar scene from the original game, according to GameSpot. This time, the scene is a new high-quality graphic version of the iconic clash between The Boss and Naked Snake. The end of the video shows the camera sweeping away to translate the act into a shiny pachinko game monitor.

Meanwhile, Konami has reportedly confirmed before that, even after Kojima has cut ties with the company, they still have plans continue the "Metal Gear" series and that they are discussing a new "Metal Gear" game back in November 2015. The pachinko version of "Snake Eater," however, is likely not the one that the company was referring to.

Moreover, the trailer was reportedly intended for pinball machines only, which will be available to arcades across Japan. Neither should the trailer be taken as a hint that Konami is making a "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" that is re-mastered for the latest consoles. Nevertheless, the said game is expected to be released in Japan in autumn 2016.
