Anonymous Hacker Group Avenges Charlie Hebdo By Disrupting Islamic State Social Network Accounts

The notorious hacker group Anonymous has launched a massive organized attack to destabilize the Islamic State terrorist organization. According to the hacker group, it managed to take down the social media account of the terrorist group and take ahold of several information regarding various IS operatives.

Anonymous claimed that its offensive cyber-attack towards the Islamic State is in retaliation against the group's inhumane attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo which left 12 people dead and 11 other badly injured.

The Islamic State is known to recruit members through social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter and it is the aim of Anonymous to disrupt the group's recruitment process by taking down its online presence. Aside from recruiting new members, the terrorist group also used various social media platforms in disseminating propaganda as well as spreading brutal videos of hostages being killed in and tortured, according to ZDnet.

 The hacker collective has managed to disable the Twitter and Facebook account of the Islamic State terrorist group, Independent reported.

A video posted by Anonymous explained that its member comes from different economic backgrounds as well as various ethnic and racial decent and covers varied sexual orientation.

The Anonymous message posted on the internet stated, "We are Muslims, Christians, Jews. We are hackers, crackers, Hacktivist, phishers, agents, spies, or just the guy next door." Finally, in the usual Anonymous style, the message ends with the lines, "Isis, we are Anonymous, we are legion. We do not forgive, we do not forget. Expect us."
