While the cast and crew might have felt uncomfortable at the thought of filming a nude scene, Gillian revealed how playing the character of a prostitute helped her escape from being one in the real life.

The actress also confessed having a traumatic childhood and how her mother had an abusive relationship. In addition, Gillian was introduced to alcohol and drugs early in life by a family friend, who later raped her and pimped her out to his friends.

However, her acting break through "Game of Thrones" finally helped her escape the life of prostitution.
