The famous American singer, actress and producer, Whitney Houston was found dead on Feb. 11, 2012 in her Beverly Hilton guest house in California. The coroner's report revealed that Houston had died because of "accidental drowning" in her bathtub and cocaine and heart disease were listed as two of the contributing factors.
Now, more than four years after her death, Houton's former husband Bobby Brown has opened up about his relationship in a new memoir called "Every Little Step." The 47-year-old R&B singer from Boston, Massachusetts, talked about his doomed love story with Houston in his 20/20 sit-down with Robin Roberts.
Brown revealed that he first saw Houston taking cocaine as she was about to walk down the aisle on their marriage day in 1992. The actor and songwriter further confessed how she used to do drugs, but the drugs never did to her as she knew how to handle them really well.
This is not the first time that someone close to Houston has come forward to speak about her drug addiction. Cissy, Houston's 82-year-old mother also wrote a memoir in 2013, dubbed "Remembering Whitney."
She described how she had long worried about the condition of her daughter, but was left devastated by the spray-painted walls with strange faces and glary eyes. In addition, sea confessed having seen a large frame with a picture of Bobby, Krissy and Nippy, but someone had cut Nippy's head out of it. At that time, she knew that her daughter was in danger.
In addition, other people and friends close to Houston told People that Houston has two personalities - one was a dazzling pop princess who was successful and the other one was a girl from New Jersey who started to take drugs in her 20s under pressure to be perfect.
"There were a lot of expectations in terms of who she was and who people thought she was," someone close to Houston told the publication."I think not being able to be herself 100 percent was a hell of a burden for her to have to carry."
The source further said that even though a person may look strong and sturdy on the outside, but there are certain insecurities, family issues and struggles that the same person might have. Houston even went to a rehab for drug and alcohol addiction treatment in 2004, 2005 and 2011, according to TMZ.
