Josh and Anna Duggar recently revealed that they have been attending couples therapy in an attempt to save their marriage. "The "19 Kids and Counting" stars thanked their fans, supporters, family and friend for staying with them through these trying times.
In an official statement release on the Duggar website, Josh and Anna said that they have been working with a professional marriage and family counselor after the former left rehab. Contrary to early reports claiming that it is only a matter of time before Anna files for a divorce, the couple seemed determined to make their marriage work after the scandal. They, however, admitted that the road to healing was not an easy one. Rather than focusing on all the negatives, Josh and Anna said that they are taking it one day at a time.
"It isn't easy and some days are very difficult. It is a long road to rebuild trust and a truly healthy relationship... As the future unfolds, we are taking one day at a time and we are grateful for your continued prayers for both of us and our sweet children," they said in the statement.
In May, Josh admitted to molesting five girls in his teen years, four of whom were his sisters. He also confessed to cheating on his wife through the Ashley Madison site. He called himself "the biggest hypocrite" ever for while he was consistently professing his faith on television, he had been actually living a double life.
"I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife."
Josh eventually entered a faith-based rehab facility, where he reportedly completed a six-month program. During one of the episodes of "Jill & Jessa: Counting On," spin off to "19 Kids and Counting," Anna talked about her experience visiting Josh in rehab. While she has yet to completely forgive Josh, Anna said that seeing him and his progress gave him hope. She also shared that the trials they experienced as a married couple only helped strengthen her faith. Anna said that her faith in God would enable him to forgive and love Josh even when others think he did not deserve it.
