Robert Downey Jr. finally hinted his return in “Iron Man 4.”

After months of waiting for a confirmation if he's ever going to be back as Iron Man in the upcoming Marvel movie, Robert Downey Jr. finally hinted his return in "Iron Man 4."

According to Morning News USA, Downey confirmed his return by stating "I don't know how long I'll do it for... I'll keep playing Iron Man for a couple more years, I guess."

People were feeling nervous on how the "Iron Man 4" would turn out when news about RDJ not renewing his contract for the role went out. Fans were even speculating either RDJ would be replaced with a different actor or the character Iron man will retire with him. Now that the actor has finally decided to return in "Iron Man 4," fans could not keep their excitement for the fourth installment of the film.

Downey has also stated before that he would only work on the "Iron Man" movie if his good friend Mel Gibson directs it, and it seems like Downey got his wish. It is said that during an interview with Uproxx, writer Shane Black kind of said a lot of positive things about Gibson, as if Black was secretly implying that the latter would be the perfect director for the "Iron Man" movie, which led people thinking that maybe Gibson got the job.

During the interview, Black also shared that Gibson and Downey has a great relationship, and the director is also nice to everyone and working with him would not be a problem.

On other news, Black also shared that in the upcoming "Iron Man 4," the rumor about the involvement of a female villain would no longer happen, although the production team originally had a great idea of including a female villain in the film. Black stated that the reason behind deciding to let go of the female super villain idea is that, not a lot of kids would patronize it and "it won't sell as toys."

"Iron Man 4" does not have an exact premiere date yet, but it is expected to come out sometime in the later months of 2016, so stay tuned.
