Neville has been out of action since mid-March due to an ankle injury he suffered in a match against Chris Jericho. According to the latest rumors, Neville is close to returning to WWE television and it could sometime in July.
The Man That Gravity Forgot was diagnosed with a fractured ankle and it happened while doing a baseball slide. His injury did not require surgery but he was ruled out of action for two to three months.
According to Cageside Seats, Neville can return as soon as the end of June or at most in mid-July. Regardless of his return date, it looks like he needed an additional month of recovery since his injury occurred on March 14.
The 29-year-old superstar was last seen at ringside at the "NXT TakeOver: The End" live event special. He gave an interview and said that it won't be long before he returns to the ring. He missed his first-ever WrestleMania in April but he is just in time for the WWE brand extension.
There are many pros and cons regarding the brand split but one potential outcome is giving more air time and better stories for superstars like Neville. He is one of the most talented wrestlers on the roster and he could use a smaller roster to work with rather than get buried by the incoming stars from NXT.
According to All Wrestling News, Neville was supposed to work at WrestleMania 32 if he did not get injured. He was scheduled to participate in the 7-Man Ladder Match for the Intercontinental championship.
With his return imminent, it is possible that he will be going after the Intercontinental championship currently held by The Miz. The champion is on hiatus to film a new movie and his return will likely coincide with Neville's come back.
If the Newcastle native begins a feud with The Miz, he has a big chance to win the Intercontinental championship. Since he is not a big wrestler that Vince McMahon loves, he has to prove himself by ding great as a midcard champion.
Neville started his WWE career in NXT wherein he is a two-time NXT tag team champion and a one-time NXT champion. He made his main roster debut last year and he was named the 2015 Slammy Breakout Star of the Year.
