Samsung adding Smart Glow to Galaxy Note 7 Edge, production starting in July

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Edge will feature the USB Type-C port instead of the usual micro USB.

Samsung might be starting the production of their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Edge next month plus a new leak claims that it will feature the new innovative Smart Glow capability.

Several reports have claimed that the South Korean tech giant is planning to produce 2.5 million copies of their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Edge starting in July. A total of five million phablets will be sold when the product launches.

The company seems to have skipped the Galaxy note 6 entirely in order to make their product lineup clear. They already have the Galaxy S7 and they plan to match the numbering system as not to confuse their customers.

Samsung plans to immediately launch the Galaxy Note 7 Edge on August 2 with the five million copies readily available for selling, SamMobile has learned. Another possible reason for the skipping of the number six is because they want to directly compete with Apple as they will reportedly launch the iPhone 7 soon.

The phablet will also be the first device from the Korean tech giant to feature two dual-curved edges. Their S6 and S7 Edge variants have always had only one side that is curved.

There are also rumors of a new feature coming to the new phablet. Samsung may feature Smart Glow LED notification on the rear end of the Galaxy Note 7 Edge's camera, PC Magazine reported.

It would be different take for how notifications will be shown. However, it is not clear yet whether there will still be a separate LED notification for the front of the Note 7 considering that most smartphone users tend to place their phones screen-side up.

Other specs to consider for the new phablet from Samsung include the new 6GB LPDDR4 RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 chipset and a 4000mAh battery. It would still be using a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED QHD screen and not the previously rumored 4K UHD Bio Blue panel, which is rumored to be used for the Galaxy S8 instead next year.

Samsung is slated to reveal the Galaxy Note 7 Edge on August 2 as the leaked invites have shown. The phablet will reportedly be available after the announcement itself and consumers will not have to wait to see the Smart Glow LED notification feature for themselves.
