Pinterest and Apple Store

In partnership with Apple, Pinterest launched on Feb 12., Thursday, the App Pins, which will allow all users to actually install iOS applications on its devices without the need for getting away from the Pinterest app.

App Pins function like all other typical pins; however, it has extra features for versatility. Positioned next to the Pin It button is the new "Install" button, and a View This On The App Store button just below the pin's image.

Tapping either of the buttons will transfer you to the App Store sheet with the pinned application's entry. This particular view is similar to the App Store page. Users could now read reviews, see screenshots, and browse through related applications from the sheet.

Hitting the Buy or Get button within the sheet will prompt the user to authenticate the page with the use of an Apple ID and password or through Touch ID, then be able to install the application as usual. Users could then close the sheet and go back to the Pinterest application.

Together with the App pins versatility, Apple has also launched a new profile for its App Store on Pinterest.

Pinterest co-founder Evan Sharp told the New York Times, "We can be a really powerful service for app discovery, which is a problem that still really hasn't been solved. Our specialty is really connecting people to the things they want to do."

Pinterest version 4.3 is now available as a free download from the App Store.
