‘Fallout 4’ console mod support needs Steam-linked account logged in; Mods currently only support 900 MB

Bethesda and modders introduce the Teleport to Companion mod for "Fallout 4."

"Fallout 4" mod authors who upload their mods for the game to Bethesda's official website will have to log in with their Steam account this time around, for console mod support. The consoles that will accept the console mods will only support 900 MB for the meantime.

This new move by the game developer was done to make sure that there will be no unauthorized uploading of PC mod authors' work for use on consoles, according to Polyon. Another reason for the extra security measure was many PC mod authors found their work has been stolen from non-official, third party websites that host mods like Nexus Mods, and then uploaded the stolen mods and claimed it for their use on the Xbox One console. The game developer has also released a new title update for the game last week to prepare the PlayStation 4 for the PC mod support.

The game developer has also run into some issues in getting the mod support on the PS4. According to the official website of Bethesda, the PS4 mod storage limit will only be 900 MB currently, and they are currently working with Sony to increase it. The Xbox One has a 2 GB limit, which is way larger than its competitor.

PC textures were used by the mod authors, and that will cause some problems with some mods that modify textures in the game. They are working on a solution with Sony to make an optimal texture exporting support in a future update for the game on the PS4.

The PS4 uses only a proprietary format for sound files, and that means the sound files used for the mods will not be supported for the time being. The two companies are also working on a support system that could process the sound files to the console without bumping into annoying issues.

In other news, the popular mod for the video game, which is Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Enhancer, will not be on consoles. CBBE was planning on making a family friendly mod, but due to the problems with their modified content being stolen by other people, they are waiting for the game developer to make some changes with their policies regarding mods and its authors.
