It seems like the television series “Reign” will not be reigning in this fall’s CW lineup, as “Reign” Season 4’s premiere has been moved to an indefinite date.

It was just recently when the historical fantasy television series, "Reign," concluded its third installment. With "Reign" Season 4 already confirmed, reports are loud that the next installment may not have a 2016 release date.

According to Carter Matt, "Reign" Season 4 may not be able to air this year because its ratings went down during the previous season. The same report emphasized that there are other shows that are performing better compared to "Reign," which includes "The 100" and "The Originals," that were said to be more popular compared to the historical fantasy series.

With that said, rumors are saying that the CW network may decide not to air "Reign" Season 4 within the year in order to give way for other fan favorite shows. The publication noted that it may be best for "Reign" Season 4 to be in the network's 2017 summer line-up, which was said to be less congestive in terms of competition.

On the other hand, according to Christian Times, "Reign" Season 4 will feature new characters namely Lord Danley and Bothwell. The two characters are said to try their best to win the queen's heart. It can be remembered that the love interest of Queen Mary, played by Adelaide Kane, died during the previous season, which is why fans are speculating that the upcoming season would feature a new love interest for the Queen. In addition to that, rumors are rife that it will be Lord Danley who shall be the next husband of Mary, but he will later be killed, and will leave Mary as the prime suspect of his death.

The report did also cite the exit of Torrance Coombs, who plays the role of Bash in the series. It was said that Coombs is going to venture on another historical drama titled "Still Star-Crossed" along with Shonda Rhimes. The same report did also note that Coombs is still interested in reprising his role as Bash in the future, and that he will miss his co-cast members and the team behind "Reign."

As of the moment, the CW network has not provided any details yet relating to the official release date of "Reign" Season 4.
