General atmosphere of Samsung Unpacked 2015 featuring the Galaxy Note 5, not the Galaxy Note 7

Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Note 7 in August and people pretty much know the specs already including the 5.8-inch QHD dual curved screen and 6GB LPDDR4 RAM thanks to the leaks.

The South Korean tech giant is skipping the Galaxy Note 6 entirely for the Galaxy Note 7 in order for them to be consistent with their numbering. Some have also speculated that the move was for Samsung to compete with the iPhone 7 from Apple through their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7 devices.

This way, Samsung's products will still have the same numbering as Apple's. When the iPhone 8 releases, they will also have the Galaxy S8 Edge and the Galaxy Note 8.

Samsung will reportedly launch the Galaxy Note 7 in Netherlands after they have skipped the Galaxy Note 5 last year, NDTV has learned. The country will also receive the new phablet as early as the second week of August while other reports claim that the device will immediately roll out after its announcement at the Galaxy Unpacked event in August.

Besides the QHD dual curved screen, the device is also expected to sport the new 6GB LPDDR4 RAM module that Samsung unveiled several weeks ago. Unfortunately, the new 4K Bio Blue foldable screen will be sported by their Galaxy X smartphone to be released next year alongside the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8.

The Galaxy Note 7 will also pack a 12MP rear camera and 4000mAh battery which could help it last more than a day, BGR reported. Variants of the phablet will run Samsung's Exynos processor while the others may be powered by a Snapdragon 823 SoC from Samsung.

There might not be a Galaxy Note 7 Edge at all as the base model itself will have the curved edge screens. This could also lead to the Galaxy S8 having the edge by default in 2017.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 7 with the Iris scanner and the dual curved screen on August 2 at their press event. Release dates and official specs will hopefully be revealed as well as the final price which is now rumored to be around EUR 799.
