Jamie Lynn Spears to release country music album.

Jamie Lynn Spears has recently weighed in on her famous sister Britney Spears' rise to stardom. She even mentioned a music genre that she claimed would have made better sense for Britney to explore.

Avid fans may recall seeing Britney's younger sister in the 2007 Nickelodeon show "Zoey 101." She has slipped out of the Hollywood limelight after her TV stint and when she became pregnant. However, she is looking forward to building her own music career but in a different genre than her famous sister. When asked about her thoughts on Britney's success, Jamie Lynn told Entertainment Tonight that she and her family were taken by surprise on how quickly the "Stronger" crooner became popular.

She explained that given her and her sister's roots, she did not expect that Britney will be a big pop star. The Spears' sisters are Louisiana natives. Jamie Lynn even described her hometown as a "little town in the middle of nowhere." She also recounted how Britney had expressed her desire to become a pop star like Madonna.

The former "Zoey 101" actress shared that at that time, she did not believe that her sister had a chance to become a successful pop singer. Jamie Lynn even said that since they came from Louisiana, it would have been better if Britney became a country singer. "It would have made a bunch more sense from our small town of Louisiana for Britney to do country," she stated.

Several years after Britney's successful introduction in the pop scene, her younger sister has started the groundwork for launching her own country music career. Similar to her Britney, Jamie Lynn is also a crooner. She has even sung a duet with her famous pop singer sister. The two celebrity siblings sang together on the track "Chillin' With You."

Meanwhile, the former Nickelodeon star is currently working on her own country album. She mentioned in an interview with Us Weekly magazine that her upcoming return to the music scene should not be considered as a comeback. She explained that fans may have known her a child star, a young mother and as Britney's younger sister. However, she has yet to be introduced as an adult woman.

Jamie Lynn has released her new single titled "Sleepover" on Friday, June 24.
