Uma Thurman's "The Slap" mini-series on NBC premiered Thursday evening, but her looks kept the fans talking on whether she's gone through surgeries or not.
The "Kill Bill" star revealed her new look at the mini-series' red carpet premiere on Monday with her cheekbones and eyebrows capturing onlookers to conclude that she was a little "unrecognizable". The actress herself admitted that she "looked weird."
Thurman stepped into New York's New Museum with a makeover that seemed to lift all facial features, drawing attention to her mascara-free lashes, cheekbones, and eyebrows, on Monday. Tony Surratt, her makeup artist for years, told Refinery29 that they aimed for a "more editorial look than it was celebrity" look and that having a bold lip and strong brow for the premiere were meant to imbibe a "French kind of feel."
"I applied a creamy foundation for all-over glow, and then contoured her cheekbones and the hairline to add warmth. I applied the lip, then we just kept her eyes really, really light," Surratt said. "The way I shaded her eyebrows with the pencil was made to create an uplifting effect," he added.
Surratt finished "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" star with a beige shadow on her lids without mascara.
On Thursday, Thurman shot down the rumors when she appeared on the Today show.
"I know I looked weird! I don't know, I guess nobody liked my makeup," the "Pulp Fiction" alum told Savannah Guthrie. "I've been doing this for years and people say nice things and they say mean things and it's just like whatever. I always take the good with the bad," she added.
