AMD displays the Radeon RX 480 with Polaris 10 that is more powerful than the RX 470 and the RX 460

Fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming release of the AMD Radeon RX 480 on June 29 but customers who want custom AIB cards from XFX, Powercolor and Sapphire will have to wait until July.

Several leaked benchmark results have shown that the partner AIB cards of the RX 480 will be better at overclocking. The reference RX 480 cards from AMD was proven to only reach up to 1379 MHz compared to the XFX Radeon RX 480 8GB that was able to clock at an impressive 1600MHz on air alone.

In addition, the memory clock of the reference cards could only reach up to 2200 MHz. However, most of the samples sent out by AMD only reached up to 2100MHz which disappointed some fans.

AMD has also teased fans with the overclocking tool that they will be releasing once the RX 480 cards roll out. They are now calling it the Radeon WattMan which is formerly known as the AMD overdrive app. It will be the overclocking software of choice for the Polaris 10 card users.

Reliable leaker Hermitage Akihabara has claimed that the custom AIB cards of the Radeon RX 480 will only be sold in the middle of July, Videocardz has learned. The Radeon RX 470 custom partner cards will be rolled out by the end of July and the budget RX 460 will only be available once the first weeks of August hits.

NVIDIA has successfully launched their GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 despite the serious lack of stocks from online and retail stores. AMD seems to be ready for their RX 480 launch as some online shops already have stocks such as Newegg, B&H and Amazon.

One Reddit user also confirmed that a Microcenter branch in Texas already has stocks for the AMD Radeon RX 480, TCC reported. They expect 100 units of the Polaris 10 card to be available.

For the pricing, it has been more or less confirmed that the RX 480 8GB model will be priced at $229. The standard 4GB model will be $199 while the partner cards from XFX, VisionTek and others are expected to cost up to $299 for the 8GB variants which is reasonable considering that they can be overclocked more. Interested buyers can now pre-order from B&H and Newegg once the stocks replenish.
