iPhone 8, Apple Watch 3 updates: Micro-LED displays more power efficient than OLED displays; iPhone 8 will feature wireless charging

If reports are anything to go by, the forthcoming iPhone 8 will feature wireless charging.

Also, latest reports suggest that the Apple Watch 3 will have micro-LED displays. Rumor has it that the tech giant Apple is developing micro LED displays that may be used in place of OLED displays in the second half of next year.

Micro LED displays range in size from 1-micron to 100-micron and the cost of production is higher than that for OLED displays.

Micro LED displays are more power efficient than the OLED displays. Also, they are more difficult to produce.

The displays are also thinner and lighter and can give an Apple Watch's display a much higher brightness and resolution ability.

Speculations are doing the rounds that the iPhone 7 will release in the next three months. According to several reports, the smartphone will have the same functionality and design that people see in the iPhone 6s smartphone.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the software company will make just minute changes in the smartphone.

The new iPhones - the iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone 7 - will not have huge design changes. The latest phones will maintain the current 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch displays. However, the upcoming smartphones will have a faster processor.

Ming-Chi Kuo,  KGI Securities analyst, has hinted at the dual-camera setup for the iPhone 7 Plus. He said that the iPhone 7 Plus will have a 5.5-inch display and will come with two back cameras.

If reports are anything to go by, the iPhone 8 will feature wireless charging. This new feature was disclosed by the company's mobile supply chain.

Reports also suggest that this new feature will not be available on the iPhone 7 smartphone.

It is expected that the Cupertino-based Apple will release the iPhone 8 smartphone in September 2017. The iPhone 7 is expected to have reduced antenna banding and new deep blue color option.

There are speculations that the software company Apple is planning big technological and design changes for 2017 (first iPhone's 10th anniversary). According to a report from Forbes, these changes may include an edge-to-edge super OLED screen and improved fingerprint technology.
