The popular anime series "Tokyo Ghoul" is not only set to release its third season later this year, but is also expected to unveil its newest mobile game counterpart and live action "Tokyo Ghoul" movie.
It can be remembered that "Tokyo Ghoul" anime series has just concluded its Season 2 in 2015; however, fans insisted that the second season was a spin-off conceptualized by a certain Sui Ishida, which had an entirely different storyline than that of the original manga. With this, fans petitioned that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 be produced by a different studio.
Despite this, it has recently been confirmed by the FUNimation Entertainment that Studio Peirrot will still be the one to produce "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. Nevertheless, fans are immediately assured that the next season will follow the trail of Season 1, adapting the original "Tokyo Ghoul" manga storyline. According to Game & Guide, while "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 is expected to go back to its roots, a new protagonist will also be introduced in the upcoming season.
Moreover, fans are not only excited with the release of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3, but also with the unveiling of "Tokyo Ghoul" mobile game. According to the FUNimation president and CEO, Gen Fukunaga, the idea of releasing "Tokyo Ghoul" mobile game was formulated out of the clamor of fans in Tokyo to have one after the release of season one.
Patterned from the anime itself, GameSamba confirmed that the "Tokyo Ghoul" game will have players who can choose either to be a ghoul or a member of CCG. Basically, both will be equipped with armors, Kagume, and strengths that are similar with the anime.
In addition, aside from the "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 and "Tokyo Ghoul" mobile game, it has been confirmed that a live-action film is to be expected next year. Although the rest of the updates on the story is still surreal, it is already confirmed that the artists who will be playing on "Tokyo Ghoul" movie will be Masataka Kubota (Ken Kaneki) and Fumika Shimizu (Touka Kirishima). The film is set to be released in Japan on spring 2017.
