The Chinese mutinational networking and communications company Huawei has been known to produce quality products with cheaper prices. Its upcoming tablet, the Huawei Matebook may potentially become a rival of Apple's iPad Pro.
Huawei Matebook is a tablet-PC convertible which runs on Windows 10. Although it presents more itself as a tablet, the said device is run by a 6th generation Intel Core chip which can maximize an 8 GB RAM processing power, The Verge reported.
The same report described that in terms of outward appearance, the Matebook is more similar to the iPad Pro than Microsoft Surface. Its thickness matches that of the iPad Pro with only 6.9 mm width. It is slightly lighter at 640 g but has a smaller screen size of 12 inches. It boasts an excellent display of 2,160 by 1,440 pixel resolution which provides sharp images.
Like many other devices, the tablet-PC convertible sports a fingerprint scanner at its edge in between the volume buttons. It is made from the same scanners installed on other devices like Nexus 6P which works smoothly once stimulated. A USB-C port is also present which the device utilizes to connect externally with any other device and to charge its battery.
In addition, the same report mentioned that one of the pitfalls the Matebook possesses is its lack of battery prowess. While Huawei claims it is capable of running throughout the entire day with only a single charge, it only lasted for more than four hours in a standard rundown test. When used as a PC, the tablet lasts up to only three hours.
The Huawei Matebook will be released on July 11 with a starting price of $699. Although cheaper than its competitors, the starting price does not come with a keyboard.
An extra $129 requires to be shelved out in order to acquire a keyboard, while consumers need to spend around $59 for a stylus. In addition, a set of monitor, a pair of USB ports and an Ethernet jack will cost around $89, CNet reported.
Several reviews have rated the Matebook as average. Though it is similar to the iPad Pro, the ratings given may put it somewhere in between the others, and not at par with Apple's newest tablet.
