Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Blizzard Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.

Avid players of Blizzard's hugely popular game "Overwatch" have been enjoying the game's new competitive play given its latest update. However, the update appears to come with a bug that has affected how gamers can play Mercy.

Blizzard has released its latest game update for "Overwatch" on Tuesday, June 28, that included a patch and a new gameplay mode. However, it appears to have also introduced a major bug for the character Mercy. Players have already raised the issue on Reddit and on the game's official forums, Gear Nuke reported. Gamers shared that they noticed some changes when playing the said character after Blizzard's latest update.

Players reported having to reacquire their target every time they need to change streams. Before the patch, gamers can switch to another stream without having to face a current stream target when healing or boosting an ally. However, after the patch, the stream transitions have become a bit difficult. Some gamers even commented that playing Mercy has become less smooth.

In response to the gamer's observations, Blizzard has confirmed in the "Overwatch" forums that the Mercy glitch is indeed a bug. The game's principal designer Geoff Goodman wrote in the forums that it was an unintentional change, as indicated in the same report. He also apologized to the avid "Overwatch" gamers and promised to have a fix released as soon as possible to address the bug.

Meanwhile, Blizzard has recently introduced its newest game mode called Competitive Play. The game mode has been designed for "Overwatch" players who are looking for a more serious gaming experience, as indicated in a statement posted on the game's official website. Competitive Play is available for players who have reached level 25. The game's system has also been designed to properly match the player's skills when joining a Competitive Play match.

Blizzard's new gameplay mode will also have four seasons where each will last for a period of two to three months. Gamers can also get special rewards and earn points that can be used to acquire the cosmetic Golden Weapons.

The new Competitive mode is already available for "Overwatch's" PC version. Blizzard is set to release the same game mode to PS4 and Xbox One in the first week of July.
