The NuAns NEO Windows 10 Mobile smartphone is now open on Kickstarter for a global release

Windows 10 phones are still scarce in the market but NuAns NEO is hoping to change that with their new Windows 10 Mobile phone that they plan to release with the help of crowdfunding.

Android and iOS still dominate the smartphone market but some people want to look for other options and the new Windows 10 mobile operating system could be a good bet. NuAns hopes to launch their own Windows 10 mobile smartphone through Kickstarter with a goal of $725,000.

The Japanese company was planning to launch their phone outside of Japan but funding was a problem. They needed to buy components that would make their smartphone work outside of their home country for a global release.

NuAns NEO has a five-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720, Engadget has learned. It is also blocky and not thin like most of the commercially available smartphones today as its rear half is interchangeable with other designs.

The rear half of the NuAns NEO can be changed with other finishes such as ostrich, suede and wood for those who would like a sophisticated-looking smartphone. Under the hood, the specs are also pretty decent for a mid-range smartphone.

Powering the NuAns NEO Windows 10 Mobile smartphone from the inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, Neurogadget reported. It also has 2GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 16GB with expandable storage support up to 128GB through a microSD card slot.

The rear camera has 13MP and an F2.0 aperture that can capture wide-angle shots thanks to the 28mm lens. For the front snapper, it has 5MP and an aperture of F2.4 with 24mm wide angle lens as well.

Perhaps one of the NuAns NEO's best and most interesting feature is the support for Continuum feature. Users can plug the Windows 10 mobile smartphone to a monitor so that it can function as a mini-PC which could also possibly be a proxy for a laptop.

As of this writing, the NuAns NEO Windows 10 Mobile smartphone Kickstarter page only has over $91,900 in their goal. The project still has 36 days to go to reach their goal which is still attainable at this rate.

The NuAns NEO smartphone itself is expected to be shipped on November 2016. Interested buyers can buy the phone at an Early Bird Deal price for $270 instead of the $399.99 market price but the slots are limited.
