'The Elder Scrolls' is a series of action role-playing open world fantasy video games primarily developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks.

While avid fans have been clamoring for the release of the sixth installment in "The Elder Scrolls" franchise, it seems they will wait for a bit longer. It was disappointing when Bethesda finally came out to confirm that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is not in the works now.

Bethesda's vice president of PR and Marketing, Pete Hines, broke the sad news via Twitter. He said that the sixth installment is currently not in development since the game developer is busy working on other major titles. However, Hines clarified that "The Elder Scrolls 6" will indeed be made.

Most fans expected important updates during last month's E3, but as it turned out, the series director Todd Howard only said that "TES 6" is in development. Howard confirmed at E3 2016 that Bethesda is working on the next "Elder Scrolls" sequel, but fans will have to wait a bit longer, according to Kitguru. The series director added that there are two other projects to be launched before the release of "The Elder Scrolls 6."

"It's a very long way off," Howard said. "It's something that's going to take a lot of time, what we have in mind for that game."

At the same time, Hines gave more details via IGN about the upcoming two projects, saying that the games will have the size of "Fallout 4" and "Skyrim." The release date for "The Elder Scrolls 6" might still be a long way off, but it is certain that the game will be superior, particularly because the studio will not be rushing to finish it.

Details about the first two major games are yet to be unveiled since the developer has kept everything under wrap. As fans wait for many years to lay hands on the sixth installment in "The Elder Scrolls" franchise, they can enjoy "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" remastered that was revealed at E3. The refreshed version of "Skyrim" will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and the PC on Oct. 28.

There is no much information about the possible location of the upcoming "Elder Scrolls 6," but many rumors suggest that Argonia is the next focus for the sequel. For now, "The Elder Scrolls Online" is the focus for the company, besides "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" Special Edition.
