NetherRealm Studios confirmed the development of "Injustice 2" for the PS4, Xbox One and possibly for the PC.

The latest details for "Injustice 2" will feature possible new guest characters and DC heroes and villains added to the sequel's roster.

"Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon teased that possibility of adding guest characters in the DC fighting video game sequel, "Injustice 2" similar to how they established "Mortal Kombat X". Boon told Game Informer that there is a certain novelty into it and there is a certain amount of people who think that when they see a guest character that it took the slot of a DC character that they wanted to have. Boon cited Scorpion's guest appearance in the first "Injustice", which became the most downloaded character of them all, not to mention the popularity of Alien and Predator inn"Mortal Kombat X" which made the game more interesting.

So far, NetherRealm Studios has not yet announced who the guest character is in "Injustice 2", but Twitter username Robert Menn tweeted to Boon about adding Spawn into "Injustice 2", who in the past was teased to be part of "Mortal Kombat X's" possible guest characters.

In other news, twelve DC heroes and villains are rumored to be part of the growing roster line-up of "Injustice 2".

The roster of the sequel consist of old favorites such as Batman, Superman, Aquaman and The Flash, while new faces are introduced such as Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd and Atracitus. The rumored characters that fans want to see in "Injustice 2" includes Black Canary, Booster Gold, Black Alice, John Constantine, Lady Shiva, Deadshot, Vixen, Matter-Eater Lad, Grail, Zoom, Superwoman and Doctor Manhattan, Nerdist reported.

Boon previously teased several DC characters joining the roster such as Captain Cold, Blue Beetle, Swamp Thing, Doctor Fate, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Harley Quinn. "Injustice 2" will take place after the first game as Batman tries to rebuild the world after Superman's One Earth Regime, while at the same time stopping the Man of Steel's loyalist in breaking him out of his Red Sun prison, unaware that an even greater threat is coming to earth.

The sequel will include new armor system which enables gamers to upgrade the appearance and abilities of their chosen DC character as they fight in order to unlock new loots and parts for their armor.

NetherRealm Studios has not yet announced an official release date for "Injustice 2" for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it is speculated to launch on March 2017.
