Despite their glamorous looks and covers, models are not living equally glamorous lives at all. Chinese models shared how most of them suffer from health and family issues just to do their jobs well.

According to models, unknown to the general public, modeling is not easy and fun--it is hard work.

Even though many people come to associate girls in print ads and fashion shows as glamorous and lucky, models claimed that their smiles hardly convey what they truly feel about their jobs. Before they get to wear nice clothes and pose in them, models can suffer from skipped meals, aching feet, insecurities, loneliness and homesickness. They could not let their personal problems affect their work though.

Sun Yuhan, 24, a model from Dalian, shared the difficult lives that models have. She recounts a story when she went to Beijing for a modeling job but suffered from the cold. An ordinary person could have stayed home and be looked after by their loved ones, but she could not do that.

"I really missed my parents at the time, but I did not call them because I feared that they would worry about me. I really felt helpless that night as I was alone without anyone to help me, even to do something simple like get a hot cup of water," she shared.

She also said she often gets stomach trouble, which other models regularly suffer from as well because they usually do not eat on time, or even eat three times a day.

"Stomach trouble is an occupational disease for models and I'm no exception. My stomach often goes on strike when I am busy for work," she said. Wearing heels may look beautiful and sophisticated, but wearing them so often affects the legs of the models as well.

When there are big fashion events, the difficult circumstances of the models worsen. They hardly eat and sleep anymore because of rehearsals and preparations.

Overall, being a model is hard on a woman's body. This situation is a far cry from what the public is led to believe about the glittery lives of models.
