There were several things Will Smith had to study for his role as Floyd Lawton/Deadshot in "Suicide Squad," which is written and directed by David Ayer. One of these is how serial killers think.

"I couldn't find a model to understand what would make someone comfortable killing another person for money," Entertainment Weekly quoted Smith as saying. "David walked me through that."

Smith revealed that Ayer found a book for him, which is "The Anatomy of Motive" by John Douglas. The actor worked through getting into the mind of serial killers and for him, accepting the notion Douglas puts forth felt good and it really exploded the idea in his mind of Deadshot.

Joining the ensemble cast of "Suicide Squad" was a calculated move for Smith. He finds it very freeing to not have the responsibility to carry the moral spine of the film.

As Smith pointed out, the Achilles heel of Deadshot is his daughter Zoe Lawton (Shailyn Pierre-Dixon). The actor said that his character's love for his daughter, which creates the bizarre conflicting mindset where he enjoys killing people.

On the other hand, this is not something Zoe wants from her father. Instead, what she wants is a father.

In real life, Smith and his wife Jade Pinkett-Smith have one son and one daughter named Jaden Smith and Willow Smith, respectively. With his former wife Sheree Zampino, the "Suicide Squad" actor has one son named Trey Smith.

On July 5, Tuesday, Will and Willow were spotted at the Chanel couture show in Paris, France, Us Weekly reported. A Chanel ambassador and the face of Chanel eyewear, the latter wore a teal pantsuit by the brand featuring a belted zip-up vest and pants paired with white-and-burgundy brogues.

Joining Will in the cast of "Suicide Squad" are Ben Affleck, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Adam Beach, Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and Karen Fukuhara. They play Batman, The Joker, Captain Boomerang, Rick Flag, Slipknot, Enchantress, Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller and Katana, respectively.

"Suicide Squad" is scheduled to be released on Aug. 5. Watch the official trailer here:
