KSH Holdings won the bid to build a Singapore-Chinese Cultural Center.

Kim Seng Heng Engineering Construction (PTE) Ltd., a subsidiary of the KSH Holdings Ltd., recently won a construction contract worth 78.2 million Singaporean dollars ($57.8 million) for the Singapore-Chinese Cultural Center (SCCC).

KSH Holdings is a Singapore-based construction firm which is also in the property development and management industry.

"We are pleased to have clinched this prestigious construction project, which is also our first win in 2015," remarked KSH Executive Chairman and Managing Director Choo Chee Onn.

The proposed 11-storey cultural hub is intended to be built at the Shenton Way. Construction will start on March 2 and is expected to be completed after 89 weeks.

The SCCC will feature a 530-seating capacity auditorium open for a variety of cultural events. The center will also include multi-purpose and recital halls.

An art gallery will also be opened to cater several art pieces and collections that blend both of the Singaporean and Chinese rich cultural heritages.

A particular venue adjacent to the Singapore Conference Hall is dedicated to activities promoting cultural appreciation such as performing arts shows, exhibitions and conferences, the KSH disclosed in a press release.

The SCCC will be strategically located at the Downtown Core Planning Area. The same vicinity covers the City Hall, Marina Center zones, Bugis and the Central Business District.

According to Choo, the cultural center will help "create a vibrant commercial district with round-the-clock activities."

The opening ceremony for the SCCC was held in September last year. Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong graced the event.
