The network has released synopsis for "The Last Ship" Season 3 episode 6 "Dog Day." According to Spoiler TV's description for the next installment, Chandler's plan to tackle his new enemy reaches a critical point. He executes his final plan. But will he succeed or not remains to be seen.
At the same time, the show focuses on the political aspect of the problem. President Michener's job is in danger. The recent events have put his position at risk and he may have to step down if things don't get normal. He might be forced to make some hard decisions as he wonders about his future as a president.

Speaking to Buddy TV, showrunner Hank Steinberg talked about Season 3's focus.
"In Season 3, the storyline is split between the action in Asia and the Presidency in the new White House in St. Louis. ... The drama is between geo-political issues of how to hold the country together and the question of how many resources should we give to saving the rest of the world when America is stretched very thin and trying to repair itself," Steinberg said.
