"Maze Runner 3" may have to delay its release due to the unexpected and unfortunate Dylan O'Brien's injury. The movie has already pushed to January 2018 from its actual release date.
FX News Call reported that there may be more delay in the movie's release due to O'Brien's injury. It is learnt that he has been severely injured during a stunt sequence and is still recovering; therefore, the film has already been pushed to January 2018 from its actual release date. The movie may get pushed more if O'Brien does not return any sooner.
In a Twitter post in March, director Wes Ball updated fans regarding the star's recovery. "Well, it's been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I've been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt. But ultimately I find myself left with just a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie," Ball wrote.
According to E! News, the filming of "Maze Runner 3" has completely stopped for now and will resume when O'Brien returns to the set completely recovered. O'Brien's co-actor Giancarlo Esposito, who stars as Jorge in the film, states that O'Brien is healing very well and he has a great attitude, which will help him to get back on schedule very soon
O'Brien's injury has also affected the airing of the popular television series "Teen Wolf," in which O'Brien has to reprise his role as Stiles Stilinski in season 6. Show creator Jeff Davis has announced that even though the show is on pause right now, the team hopes for the young star's speedy recovery.
However, until now there is nothing officially confirmed on the extent of O'Brien's injuries and his current medical state. Reportedly he has suffered multiple injuries including either a broken cheekbone or orbital socket.
"Maze Runner 3" is scheduled for release on Jan. 12, 2018.
