K-pop Star Park Yoo-chun Appears At Police For Questioning Over Rape Allegations

Embattled South Korean actor Park Yoochun moves one step closer to clearing his name from the four sexual assault charges filed against him by four women.

Movienewsguide reported that the Seoul Gangnam Police is rushing the release of the actor’s dismissal paper after investigators recommended to acquit Park Yoochun because of the difficulty to prove that he forced four different women from four bars to have sexual intercourse with him inside the bathrooms of the bars where the accusers work.

The police actually have evidence of the actor’s sperm on the underwear of the first female complainant, but it was insufficient to prove coercion took place, investigators said.

Besides acquitting Park Yoochun, it seems the tables had been turned against the four female complainants since authorities plan to make them face the consequences of their action amid suspicion of blackmail, money extortion and false accusation. The actor’s agency claim that the women were extorting money from Park Yoochun so they would not sue him for alleged rape, although there are indications that he had sex with them separately.

In turn, if Park Yoochun, a friend of “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki, is formally acquitted from the four sexual assault charges, the women could no longer sue him due to the law on double jeopardy.

The case has affected Park Yoochun’s career. MNG reported that his movie "Lucid Dream" had its premiere cancelled because of the lawsuits. The film, which also stars Sol Kyung Gu, Go Soo and Kang Hye Jung, was initially scheduled for release in fall.
