The famed author of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novel series, George R.R. Martin, is going to pull another trick at the Worldcon 2016 this August.

Is George R.R. Martin ready to release a new chapter from his upcoming book "The Winds of Winter"? The famed author of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" fantasy novel series previously teased fans with excerpts from the new tome, and there are rumors that he's going to pull another trick at the Worldcon 2016 this August.

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 is over, and fans are growing hungry for new updates on the show and the books from which it is based. Martin may be able to fill the void created by the long wait until "Game of Thrones" Season 7, by releasing "The Winds of Winter" earlier than expected.

At this point, little is known about Martin's progress on "The Winds of Winter"; however, he unveiled a chapter on Aeron Greyjoy at Balticon, in which much of Euron Greyjoy's backstory was revealed. According to Vulture, this particular chapter paints a picture of Euron as "an abuser and a kinslayer." It is also speculated that he may have sexually assaulted Aeron as a child. The chapter ends with Euron facing a sent by the Iron Throne to attack him.

There's a huge chance Martin will share more about "The Winds of Winter" at the upcoming Worldcon 2016, as he confirmed through his Livejournal blog that he will attend the event. At the event, which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri on Aug. 17-21, Martin will have to do signings and he also said he will do a couple of "panels, a reading, maybe some other stuff."

If Martin did a reading of a never-before-seen excerpt of "The Winds of Winter" at Balticon, he can definitely do another one at Worldcon 2016.

For now, there's no news as to when "The Winds of Winter" may come out, but there are rumblings that it may be released earlier that the premiere of "Game of Thrones" Season 7. The events in "Game of Thrones" Season 6, unlike the past five seasons, were not based on the books and the timeline in fact is way ahead than where the books currently are. There's also no telling how closely related the show will be with the upcoming tome.

In the meantime, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 will reportedly air much later than its usual March-April release date due to filming considerations.
