AMD has seen success with their recently launched Radeon RX 480 but they are still anticipating more with their upcoming Zen APU which are expected to carry the power of at least an RX 460.
Intel has taken most of the market share for processors as people prefer their Core Intel products over AMD's. However, that may change as the Zen processors and APUs are expected to release in 2017 which would take on the low to mid-end market of CPUs.
The Zen-based APUs will be including four Zen CPU cores and one Polaris GPU from AMD which has now proven that it could compete with NVIDIA's new Pascal GPUs. AMD is designing the upcoming Zen APUs for notebooks which would be able to play the current eSports games thanks to the power of the RX 460, ChristianToday has learned.
The company is also expected to dish out a 32-core Zen processor that will be used for server rigs. AMD has already demonstrated the power of their new processors which will have a significantly cheaper price tag compared to the current Intel Core proc lineups.
AMD is set to take on the bottom 90 percent market with their new Zen processors and APUs, Seeking Alpha reported. It would help raise AMD once again in terms of profits and popularity among the PC users.
The new AMD Zen APU will have four cores with 8MB shared L3 cache for each one. It will also have support for DDR4 RAM with speeds that can reach up to 3200MHz, which is arguably one of the fastest speeds ever.
For gamers, the real concern of the APU is the GPU part. It is expected that the Zen APU will have the performance of the RX 460 card which AMD is marketing as their Polaris 10 video card for eSports gaming which is mostly what people play nowadays.
Users will be able to take advantage of the HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.3s and 1.4, plus USB Type-C ports. They will also be glad to know that the highest TDP rating is expected at 65W for the AM4 variant of the Zen.
AMD's new Zen APU could be the answer for budget-conscious PC or netbook buyers that want Intel performance with a cheaper price tag. It also helps knowing that it could have the performance of the Radeon RX 460.
