"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is coming out next year. Game developer Capcom and its publisher Sony announced that the survival horror game will be available to the PlayStation VR with free demo.
Incidentally, "Resident Evil" is currently celebrating its 20th year anniversary since its debut to the PlayStation console. Cutting edge technology is not enough to entice fans of this horror franchise, so Capcom promised that players will be drawn in by "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard's" new storyline.
According to PlayStation Lifestyle, "Resident Evil 7" producer Masachika Kawata explained that players will assume the role of an ordinary character suddenly placed in a very bad situation. Kawata and his team wanted the players to fully immerse themselves to "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard," so they have decided to make the 7th installment a first person shooter. At first, they were not sure if such change will make "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" better or if it will be accepted by the fans.
Their experiment with a first person shooter and use of the PlayStation VR seemed to be a step to the right direction, according to Kawata. The "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" production team is confident that gamers will be thrilled with the upcoming game.
Sony also believes that the inclusion of an iconic and well-loved game franchise will boost the sale and the use of the PlayStation VR. Since "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will be the first AAA level game to come out for the PS VR, it would serve as a gamble on the part of Sony; however, its success may help boost the sale of the company's games and gaming accessories.
Would-be buyers are also given a taste of what to expect in "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard." In the Capcom website, visitors can download a demo of the game. Based on the information provided by the site, more than two million people have already downloaded the "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" free demo. The demo, however, is only available for the PlayStation console.
"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is set to be released on Jan. 24, 2017 and is now available for pre-orders.
