‘The Winds of Winter’: 'Game of Thrones' Author George R.R. Martin has declared that he will finish 'The Winds of Winter' before the premiere of 'Game of Thrones' Season 7

It has been five years since the release of the fifth installment of George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series. Now that "The Winds of Winter" is rumored to be almost done, recent reports about the book say that Cercei Lannister and Aegon Targaryen will battle it out to get the Iron Throne.

According to Christian Times, "Winds of Winter" may center on the return of Aegon Targaryen, who was thought to be dead. Aegon was said to be the son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Elia Martell. With this character's rumored return, fans are speculating that he will find a way to get the Iron Throne in "Winds of Winter."

The report also cited that Daenerys Targaryen is interested in getting the throne; however, the Queen of the dragons may not get it easily as she was said to battle it out against various enemies. The publication also noted a possible death of Prince Doran of Dorne from the dragons of Daenerys. With the rumored death of the prince, speculations are rising that Dorne will now ally with Aegon, making Aegon Targaryen a strong opponent of Cercei Lannister in their fight for the Iron Throne.

In addition, rumors via Reddit forums that "The Winds of Winter" may feature Jon Snow's real parents. The rumor sparked when one of the reddit users cited an interview with R.R. Martin way back in 2004, in which the author was reported to might have revealed that Ned Stark is not the biological father of Jon Snow.

On the other hand, speculations are loud about the possibility that the "Winds of Winter" will be the final installment of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series, HNGN reported. The publication noted that R.R. Martin may have been offended by some of the fans' comments about not finishing the book on time, and that his health and age affects his writing.

Despite of this, rumor has it that the author will highly likely write several novels that he can link with "A Song of Fire and Ice."

As of the moment, no release date of the "Winds of Winter" has been confirmed yet.
