YG girl group BLACKPINK debut to compete with Twice, GFriend, I.O.I

The much awaited YG girl group BLACKPINK debut is bound to compete with famous girl groups Twice, GFriend, and I.O.I.

Currently, the aforementioned girl groups dominate the entertainment market. Although the girls are competing with each other, the groups have different vibes and colors. GFriend gives off the vibe of playful middle schoolers, I.O.I has a more innocent concept, while Twice has a girl crush and cooler approach. However, BLACKPINK offers a good-girl-turns-wild vibe.

Moreover, Teddy will be the main producer of the new girl group. It was thought that G-Dragon will be the producer of the girls, but it seems that Teddy has more songs fit for a girl group. Teddy has been in charge of 2NE1's albums. Thus, we can expect songs similar to 2NE1.

YG Entertainment has officially revealed the members of BLACKPINK - Jennie Kim, Lalisa Manoban, Kim Jisoo, and Park Chaeyoung. Yibada previously reported that the new YG girl group will have four members like its sunbae group 2NE1.

The hype around BLACKPINK doused the hopes of Blackjacks of seeing 2NE1 as a trio this year after Minzy left the group and the label.

In April, YG Entertainment released a statement, "The remaining three members have re-signed, and they're preparing for a new song release for this summer as 2NE1. We are not looking for an additional member to replace Minzy."

Moreover, Dara is leaving South Korea for some time to work in the Philippines where she got her break in the entertainment industry. Reports claimed that she will host a reality TV show. Since it's a TV show, it will most likely run for months. This means the trio is not preparing for any possible comeback in months.

YG Entertainment confirmed that BLACKPINK debut is at the end of the month. The debut song will be revealed later this month. However, International Business Times reported that the group has filmed two MVs for their album and they will film six more. This hinted that the group will debut with a full album and not a mini album. The group is probably aiming for "Rookie of the Year" award at Mnet Asia Music Award 2016.
