Speculations are rife that author George R.R. Martin may be releasing the much delayed book "Winds of Winter" along with "A Dream of Spring." The book "A Dream of Spring" is the last book in the series "A Song of Ice and Fire."
In a Reddit forum fans are speculating that Martin may have finished up both the books and may be releasing them together. He may be taking this step so that the readers get to read the seventh book in the series "A Dream of Spring" before its TV premiere in 2017. He probably wants to avoid the past situation of fans being disappointed when "Winds of Winter" could not be released before the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 premiere.
The first book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series was titled as "A Game of Thrones," which is also the name of the TV adaptation of the show and it was released in 1996. Two years later, it was followed by "A Clash of Kings."
Then in 2000, Martin released the third book "A Storm of Swords." The delays started with the fourth book onwards. Martin took five years to write "A Feast of Crows" and it was ultimately released in 2005. The fifth book "A Dance with Dragons" continued the trend and it was released in 2011.
The last two books "Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring" are inordinately delayed. Fans have even urged Martin to take the aid of co-authors in order to finish the books.
There were also rumors that Martin may take the aid of author Neil Gaiman. He is the celebrated author of "Neverwhere," "The Graveyard Book," "Coraline" and "American Gods" amongst numerous others. However, there has been no confirmation from Martin whether he will resort to a co-author to finish the books or not.
In other news, there are also reports that "A Dream of Spring" may not be the last book in the celebrated series. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin said that he may change his plans and may expand the series to include more books.
