John Cho, Karl Urban, Director Justin Lin, Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine arrive ahead of the 'Star Trek Beyond' Australian Premiere on July 7, 2016 in Sydney, Australia.

Jennifer Lawrence is an inspiration to many - from aspiring actresses to writer who based their characters on her appearance. Now, "Star Trek Beyond" co-writer Simon Pegg has revealed that she is the inspiration behind the new character in the film, "Jaylah."

'Star Trek Beyond' star, Pegg, made the revelation during a press conference that took place on July 14, Thursday, according to Variety. According to the co-writer, Jaylah is inspired by Lawrence in the movie "Winter's Bone."

Pegg said that the makers of the film were trying to look for a character that is very independent. But the team did not have a name for it. Therefore, they just decided to call the character, "Jennifer-Lawrence-In-Winter's-Bone," according to USA Today.

But that came out to be a very long name. So the team decided to make the name concise and finally the name Jaylah evolved, after "J-Law."

In "Star Trek Beyond," the character of Jaylah is being played by actress Sofia Boutella. She is a new addition to the "Star Trek" crew. The Algerian actress' character involves extreme fierceness and independence, and this is what is expected to make Lawrence proud.

"We love Sofia, she's a nutcase and a golden addition to this group," Pegg said during the conference. "There are not a lot of girls in Star Trek. Zoe [Saldana as Uhura] has a lot on her shoulders."

Recently, John Cho's character in the film, Hikaru Sulu, was declared as the franchise's first openly gay character. The decision was announced as a nod to George Takei, who played the character of Sulu in the original "Star Trek" series.

Soon after the announcement, the 79-year-old actor showed his disappointment stating that his character from the television series has been altered to fit the role for the upcoming movie, "Star Trek Beyond." However, he later stated in a lengthy Facebook post that he is delighted to see the LGBTQ community becoming a part of the "Star Trek" franchise, adding on to its existing diversity.

"Star Trek Beyond" will hit the box office on July 22, Friday.

The following trailer of the movie features a new song by Rihanna named "Sledgehammer:"
